In-Depth Cirrus 720 Review and Guide
The Cirrus 720 is nuCamp’s only Cirrus that is not a four-season truck camper. It is a hard-side, non-slide, wet bath that can only be described as the perfect truck camper for those who like a little bit of everything.
Specifications
The Cirrus 720 was launched in 2019. It fits most 3/4 and 1/2 ton trucks with 6 feet 1/2 inch beds.
If you’re a solo camper or couple off-roading in the wild, then the Cirrus 720 is one you should definitely consider.
Read on for a detailed breakdown of all the specifications you need to know about this camper.
Exterior Features
Build
The frame of the Cirrus 720 is made of aluminum and coosa board, which is a high-density polyurethane foam with reinforced layers of fiberglass. This material is commonly used in the marine industry for its lightweight and superior rigidity.
The sidewalls are laminated, bonded, and made with Azdel panels. These panels make the walls resistant to changes in temperature and weather and keep mold from growing. It is a very popular lightweight yet strong material used for recreational vehicles.
The Cirrus 720’s doors are insulated, and the windows are thermal pane acrylic insulated with adjustable blackout shades and screens. These features help maintain pleasant temperatures within the vehicle regardless of the weather outside.
What disappointed me the most was the lack of tinting, without which the interiors of the camper are very visible from the outside.
The camper comes with one 20-pound propane tank, which may not nearly be enough for most avid campers. And there is just one 20-gallon freshwater tank and one 22-gallon grey water tank. For a comfortable trip, you will have to bring most of your own water.
Another drawback is the single Group 27 battery which is just enough for those who are very conscious about conserving power. I am not in this group, so I had to make provisions for my additional energy, water, and propane needs.
If this camper’s propane capacity is not enough for your trip, you can reload along the way. Check out this guide on RV propane fill stations.
Interior Features
Floor Plan
The Cirrus 720 is accessible through a Project 2000 M440 step system that is manually deployed. The system includes a steel bracket and an aluminum step with anti-slip rubber.
The only problem is accessing the camper once loaded on a truck. For this, I suggest you buy a 2 to 3 step portable stool.
The entry door holds the trash can and a fire extinguisher. This is an excellent design decision because of the ease of accessibility when camping and cooking outdoors.
The door also has a horizontal window with a built-in privacy screen and two storage pockets. If you’re a frequent camper like me, then you’re probably thinking of all the things you can put in these door pockets. Choose carefully because they are out in the open and exposed to outdoor elements for long periods.
To the immediate right of the entry door is a hanging closet with adjustable shelves and then the kitchen. To the left is the wet bath, and beside it is the refrigerator. Further ahead in the center of the camper is the dinette, and beyond the dinette lies the cabover.
The hanging closet also contains the glycol reservoir, which I found quite efficient with its translucent body. It is incredibly easy to figure out when the glycol needs to be replaced—it is a matter of opening the closet.
Between the sink and wet bath, under an access panel, is the sump pump. Its purpose is to pump water into the top of the gray water tank. The sub-floor is too shallow and will not be able to run the water to the gray water tank using gravity. This feature is required by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
The door, overall floor plan, and accessibility features are very sensible decisions on the designer’s part. This layout will make your off-roading life in this truck camper a comfortable and practical one.
Alde Hydronic Heating System
The Cirrus 720 is heated with the Alde hydronic heating system. It is even, quiet, and efficient with a 2.2-gallon water heater. It can be best described as living in a house with radiators. Overall, hydronic heating systems are an excellent choice for campers looking for energy-efficient heating.
Lighting
The LED lighting inside the camper made me curious, considering their positioning. After seeing it in person, I have to say it creates a beautiful ambiance inside.
The only lighting-related issue I noticed is that the closets are considerably darker. You can add additional light fixtures in your storage spaces so you can always find what you’re looking for.
Cabinetry
Radius overhead cabinetry is the first thing that caught my eye as soon as I stepped in. It is elegant, understated, and somehow adds to the overall appeal of the Cirrus 720.
The first cabinet on the passenger’s side has two doors, with an adjustable shelf on the lower half. The upper cabinet is a hanging closet and holds the glycol reservoir and an interior weight sticker.
The second set of cabinets is located below the kitchen counter. It is a large, open space left empty for larger objects. I mostly used this to store trash and occasionally some supplies that I couldn’t find the right space for. There is also a cabinet under the stove, which comes with plastic pull-out tubs that you can easily switch out.
The next cabinet is under the refrigerator. This one comes with a shelf, and its strategic location can make for an excellent mini pantry for canned food and other staples. Of course, you will need to secure all of these items to ensure they remain in place while the camper is in motion.
Moving on to my favorite cabinets on this Cirrus 720: the cabinetry above the cabin area. These no-handle storage spaces look so sleek and stylish!
The cabinets operate automatically with a gas strut assist that you just need to push and release to open. The cabinet interior is a large open space perfect for storing pots, pans, clothing, and all of your travel essentials.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a glass top sink and stove, both resting on a counter made of E-wood. This counter material developed by nuCamp is incredibly lightweight, but it is just as sturdy and long-lasting as real wood. The cooktop has two burners, and the sink is a vertical-only faucet.
While the space does seem overcrowded with both the cooktop and sink in use, it is unlikely to happen. In the Cirrus 720, I suggest using the sink with the cooktop closed and vice versa. This way, you will have all the space you need for food preparation and cleanup.
Placed in the corner of the spacious counter is a feature you might have been looking for everywhere: the control panel where you can adjust the following:
- Battery
- Tank level
- Backup camera
- Light switches for the porch and the dinette
- 12-volt refrigerator mode
- Water pump
- USB outlet
- 12-volt outlet
- 110-volt outlet
While I personally prefer a control panel located near the entry door, this layout choice is nowhere near a deal-breaker for me. But if you’re used to controlling your camper from a certain spot, this will undoubtedly be quite an adjustment for you.
The Cirrus 720 has a Norcold N3104 three-way gas absorption refrigerator located opposite the kitchen counter. It comes with LED lighting, two adjustable shelves, and door bins, a freezer, and a pull-out crisper. I think this refrigerator and its features suit the camper perfectly, given its size and price range.
The kitchen on the Cirrus 720 provides campers with all the essential features, and you will almost certainly get the best use of all of them. As a result, this space can easily stand up against other high-quality campers out there.
Dinette
The dinette is located at the foot of the cabover and houses a Lagun table. While I found the seating comfortable, actually sitting at the dinette made me feel a bit cornered.
Under the dinette is a precious access panel that hides your fuse panel and breakers. If you run into electrical issues, all the information you need is easily accessible.
In the Cirrus 720, the audio-video system is a Jensen audio-video located above the passenger side dinette seat.
When you remove the back cushions from the seats, you will come across a set of white doors. These are hiding your Shurflo water pump, water heater bypass valve, battery box, temperature mixer, and the Alde system.
I’m not sure why nuCamp thought this was the best place for these features, and it is one of the biggest downsides of this camper for me.
Wet Bath
The wet bath in the Cirrus 720 is enclosed in a tambour door that increases the space by up to 20%. The door itself moves smoothly, and it may be my favorite feature in this camper.
With the tambour door, the floor space of the main entryway ingeniously doubles as your wet bath’s floor. Accessibility is no issue here—even when the wet bath is in use, access from the cabin to the entry door isn’t blocked.
The radius tambour door is another common feature in the European RV industry, where it’s proven to be a success. It looks promising since it does prioritize functionality while keeping space in mind.
If you were worried about having an open drain in the entryway, nuCamp does provide a small plug to cover the drain.
The roof shared between the wet bath, and the entryway consists of a Fantastic Vent and LED lighting. You don’t have to worry about air circulation and illumination at all.
Beyond the shower area is an Alde system radiator, a Thetford C220 Cassette toilet system, and a storage shelf. The storage shelf is too small for my liking, considering there isn’t a sink in this bath!
The toilet has a 4.75-gallon cassette that is easy to dump in residential, portable, or pit toilets.
A detail that may make you forget about the lack of a sink is the showerhead. It is ultra-modern with wall-mounted controls, and it is a fantastic luxury to have when you’re camping far away from civilization!
Cabover
The queen-size bed in the cabover has a FROLI system for excellent ventilation.
There are three storage cubbies on either side of the bed. Unfortunately, these are the only storage spaces in the cabover area, so you will have to store your clothing elsewhere.
On the passenger side of the bed, there is a speaker, light switch, LED reading light, a USB outlet, and a 110-volt outlet. The same is available on the driver’s side, except for a 12-volt outlet.
There is a Jensen 19-inch HDTV near the foot of the passenger’s side bed. Don’t worry, it does swing out to face the cabin area so you can enjoy your movies and TV shows no matter where you are.
Pricing
The price range for this camper is relatively affordable at $28,000. You can also browse aftermarket listings for lower prices on secondhand campers.
Reviews
From the folks I came across who owned a Cirrus 720, I learned that they were pretty satisfied with the purchase.

Is the Cirrus 720 Right for You?
If you’re looking for top-of-the-line amenities and can deal with limited battery and water tanks, the Cirrus 720 is an excellent, cost-effective, practical choice. It has some features that justify the luxury tag but some downsides that make me wonder why nuCamp did not do better.
Overall, I would go for some of their higher-end models like the Cirrus 820 or 920. But I wouldn’t say the 720 is a poor choice. It is not for every kind of camper out there, but if it suits your needs and preferences, then you should not hesitate to get it.
